Athlete Bio

Age: M65-69

Geography: Tristar Athletes Northeast

State: USA, New Hampshire

Fun facts: Fred lives on a high mountain ski slope in New Hampshire with his wife Virginia, with beautiful views of Lake Winnipesaukee. Fred does his long rides around New Hampshire and every time he gets home he has to ride up the mountain one mile with a steady grade of 13%! (You can actually stand leaning into the mountain in front of his driveway.) Talk about a way to end every bike ride with a 1mi time trial treat on the legs! OUCH! Fred swims in open water across Lake Winnipesaukee during the warmer summer months and is a dedicated athlete.

Bio, goals and races, tactics: Fred has been a top age grouper in Kona racing there three times and climbing to the top ranks and onto the podium. He is a world class triathlete! Fred has recently overcome a bike crash and is back to full on racing and training this season. His goals are to race at the front of the age group, and hold back on his strength the bike so he can run well.

  • Ironman All World Athlete - AWA Gold

  • Indoor and hardcore - Fred trains on the trainer through the winter months and uses the awesome terrain in New Hampshire to stay physically strong with the hills.

  • Uses a combination of heart rate based training + power to dial in endurance and FTP.

  • Why is he “uncle” Fred?! He is coach Cliff’s uncle. Not only a Tristar but family ; )
